TITLE:  ´The Hedgehog, the Rabbit and other Fairy Tales´Characters´

LEVEL: 1st ESO (LEVEL3)

BRIEF SYNOPSIS:

Once upon a time in a beautiful forest there lived peacefully a lot of animals together, except two of them. The rabbit Cliff was always making fun of the hedgehog, called Bolty, for his slow speed and his physical appearance full of sharpened sticks. Most of the other animals were fed up about the situation so they decided to ask for help to the wisest animal for them, Professor Grassy, the oldest grasshopper in the woods. He pointed out that they could organise a race to show who was the fastest one. The wolf and the Three little pigs started laughing because for them it was obvious that Cliff was going to win without any effort.But something different and strange was going to happen. Nobody wanted to miss the competition, Cinderella, Snow White, the Little Red Hiding Hood and the Little Mermaid surprisingly appeared from the woods to encourage the two competitors. There seem to be two different teams.

So the race started. The rabbit ran very fast and he stopped in a McDonalds to have a diet coke and a vegeterian hamburger. There he met Shrek, Donkey and the Puss in Boots. They were talking for a while, then Cliff decided to have a little nap. Meanwhile Bolty, step by step, and very slowly reached the winning post. Everyone cheered the hedgehog. Snow White gave him a tasty red apple, The Little Red Riding Hood a cake and the Little Mermaid some fresh water. When the rabbit realised that he hadn´t won, he understood the lesson: PRIDE GOES BEFORE A FALL and the hedgehog also learnt that YOU NEVER GIVE UP WHEN FOUND WITH FAILURE.

At the end of this story all the characters of the fairy tales and of the forest danced with Bollywood rhythm and had a great party in the Three Little Pigs´restaurant built with bricks, wood and straw to celebrate the new friensship between the rabbit and the hedgehog and they all lived happily forever.

CHARACTERS AND CHARACTER OBJECTIVES:

THE RABBIT CLIFF: agile, athletic, slim, bighead, conceited, grey skin colour. He is always making fun of the hedgehog and he´s sure he´s going to win the race.

THE HEDGEHOG, BOLTY: chubby, barrel-chested, hard-working. with brown skin colour.He accepts the challenge of the race to prove that he can do it. Effort and believe in oneself is what is really important for him.

THE GRASSHOPPER,PROFESSOR GRASSY: small, thin, wise, green colour. His opinion is really important for the rest of the animals.

OTHER FAIRY TALES CHARACTERS: Cinderella, the Red Riding Hood, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the Little Mermaid, Shrek, Donkey, Puss in Boots, the Wolf and the Three Liile Pigs. All of them want to gossip.


SCENE BREAKDOWN:

SCENE1: The rabbit and the hedgehog are arguing about who is the fastest one. They are in a forest.

SCENE2: The rest of the animals observe what is happening. They ask the grasshopper to solve the problem.

SCENE3: Most of the fairy tales characters appear from the woods.

SCENE4: The race starts.

SCENE5: The rabbit rests in a McDonald and meets Shrek, Donkey and Puss in Boots.

SCENE6: The hedgehog continues running and reachesss the winning post. The fairy characters give him some ´presents´.

SCENE7: The rabbit understands the moral lesson and in order to celebrate the new friendship they have a great party altogether. They dance.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

There are lots of characters in this story, so this enables us to give a role to most of the students in a class.
Another possibility is that you can add more characters to the story.
